Return of the werewolf....

OF WOLF AND MAN is now available in this sharp new edition from Lachesis Publishing or Amazon.com. Revised and expanded from the first incarnation, I hope werewolf fans everywhere will enjoy this novel of witchcraft and lycanthropy.

About the book: Eddie's life was destroyed the night he found his wife murdered in their New York apartment. Desperate to escape the burden of a heavy heart, he returns to his childhood home in Colorado. But what he hoped would be a time of healing becomes a personal hell...

Meanwhile, Mark's own homecoming finds the legacy of his estranged father, an occult leader, haunting him at every turn. Armed only with a note and a strange symbol, he attempts to piece together the man's past as people who knew him begin to turn up dead.

Tying them together is a mysterious woman. Possessed by an ancient evil bent on propagating the werewolven race, she will stop at nothing to see that her diabolical work is done.

 DFW HWA Update - February 2009
« Result #5 on Feb 9, 2009, 11:47am »

Greetings Chapter Members,

Hello everyone. I hope 2009 is treating you well so far. Some news and tidbits for the year ahead are below, including....

=======CONDFW MEETING SCHEDULED=======

This is a note for those of you who will be at ConDFW in two weeks. I have scheduled a DFW HWA late-lunch meeting for 3 p.m. on Saturday, February 21. Any later and we will have scheduling conflicts for those on panels; any earlier and I may not be able to make it as I have to take a final exam that morning before going to the convention.

So, just to be clear:

DFW HWA Meeting
ConDFW VIII
Saturday, Feb. 21
3:00 p.m.

Let's meet in front of the hotel restaurant entrance at the rendezvous time. I'm going to see if there are any decent restaurants around, since I wasn't impressed with the food at the last Crown Plaza. We should be okay, there's lots of stuff in that area. Let's plan on meeting up, then going out.

REMEMBER: ConDFW is in a new hotel this year. For details on the new location, click the link: http://www.condfw.org/hotel/

=======OTHER 2009 CON NEWS=======

TEXAS FRIGHTMARE WEEKEND, MAY 1-3, 2009
http://www.texasfrightmareweekend.com/

The local chapter has three more events slated for this year, the big one, once again, being Texas Frightmare Weekend. If you are interested in being a guest at Texas Frightmare Weekend and aren't currently on the guest page at their web site, let me know as soon as possible (Charlee, I am sending your information to them today). We will have three tables to seat six at a time, and can rotate signing slots if necessary. We will also have a panel on Sunday. Our panel last year was very well attended (40 or 50 people), but only three of us stuck around to participate. Please try to plan on being there for the panel on Sunday if at all possible.

ROBERT E. HOWARD DAYS, JUNE 12-13, 2009
http://www.rehupa.com/?p=630

This is easily my favorite event of the year, probably because it's nothing at all like a convention. Robert E. Howard Days is celebrated annually in Cross Plains, TX. It features a few scholarly panels, but mostly fun stuff like bus and walking tours of Howard's Cross Plains, the Friday night banquet and silent auction, a spectacular Saturday night barbeque at Caddo Ranch which is guaranteed to be the best BBQ you've ever had, and most important of all; the Robert E. Howard House and Museum will be open both days for tours, with the adjoining Alla Ray Morris Pavilion available for all who show up to sit, discuss, drink, and be merry. Please let me know if you'd like to try to make it this year. To be clear, this is not a huge promotional opportunity, just a good time to fellowship with fans of the 20's and 30's pulp era, get some great Howard items for your collection, and experience the life and work of one of the greatest pulp writers of all time.

A note: this year the Robert E. Howard United Press Association (REHUPA), has compiled a tribute anthology, with sales to benefit the Robert E. Howard House and Museum. Several HWA members have contributed. It should be available by June.

FENCON, SEPTEMBER 18-20, 2009
http://www.fencon.org/

We will once again congregate at FenCon for our fourth and final gathering of the year. More details on the convention and meeting will be posted online at the chapter website closer to the event. Please let me know now if you'd like to be on the guest list for this event, so I can work with the con committee to have you added as members of DFW HWA. FenCon has been very good to our group and we've made a lot of friends here over the years, some of them returning fans, so we apprecaite being a part of this annual event. Special guests slated for this year include Lois McMaster Bujold, Keith R.A. DeCandido, and more. Visit the site for more details.

=======OUR WEBSITE & NEW MEMBERS=======

I finally got around to updating the website last month, adding book covers from and links for our new members, Joe McKinney, Byron Starr, Gabrielle Faust, and Brian Moreland. If you are a member of the chapter, have a book out, but do not have a cover image posted on the page, please e-mail me with a cover image of your book and I will add it for you.

Make sure to check the site for periodic updates, and visit our message board to post your publishing news. It doesn't see a lot of action posts-wise, but there sure are a lot of people lurking and seeing what we're up to, so be sure to take advantage of the free publicity.

Till next time,

Christopher Fulbright
DFW HWA Chairman

Members of the DFW HWA and extended family will be at ConDFW in Dallas February 20-22, 2009 for what looks to be a damn fine event. Guests include David Weber, Jim Butcher, Angeline Hawkes, C. Dean Andersson, Nina Romberg (a.k.a. Jane Archer), Christopher Fulbright, Gabrielle Faust, Lillian Stewart Carl, P.N. Elrod, Rachel Caine, hopefully Charlee Jacob, and more to come closer to the event, I'm sure.

 EXIT SPEED PREMIERE
« Result #10 on Aug 21, 2008, 12:18am »
[Quote]

Hi Folks,

Just thought I'd put in a word about the upcoming EXIT SPEED premiere on August 26. EXIT SPEED is an action thriller written and produced by yours truly. It was shot in Dallas and the surrounding area. It's about a group of bus passengers crossing Texas who are set upon by a murderous pack of bikers. Much carnage follows. The cast includes Fred Ward, Desmond Harrington, Lea Thompson and several local faces. It was directed by Scott Ziehl. You can find details about the movie at www.exitspeed.net or www.dreadcentral.com.

The premiere is a red carpet event and open to the public. Check www.studiomoviegrill.com for details. Look for the EXIT SPEED icon. The movie goes into limited release in September.

It should be a fun time. Lea and Fred and Scott will be attending along with many members of the cast, crew, and stunt team.

Michael.
